Welcome to Judith A. Resnik CLC

_______A Message From Our Principal /August 2022______

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to a wonderful learning year! I hope everyone had an exciting and peaceful summer. I am proud to return to my “roots” at Resnik CLC. This is my third time walking on the footprint of this great school. In the 80’s, I went to Fairlawn Elementary. I have many fond memories of tetherball, Halloween parades, safety patrol, and joyful learning opportunities. Six years ago, I worked at Resnik as the part time Dean of Students with Principal Brady. Since then, my home has been at Forest Hill CLC as their principal. Entering my 26th year with APS, I am blessed to be working with you!

My primary goal is to provide a safe, caring, and orderly learning environment in which teachers can teach, and children can learn. I am inspired by the dedication and commitment of the teachers, staff, and parents of Resnik CLC.  We are continuing to expand our work towards achieving greater academic excellence and success for all students.

I recognize that it is a privilege to serve your child/children.  One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job as principal is meeting and interacting with parents.  Excellent communication and parental support helps us provide the tools needed for each student’s academic growth and achievement.

I share your commitment to your child’s education and am always available to conference with you regarding your child’s success at Resnik CLC. If I can be of any help, please feel free to contact the office to schedule an appointment.  I look forward to meeting all of you and having a great and successful school year. TOGETHER we can ensure a brighter future for our children.

In Partnership,

Sarah W. Core

EMERGENCY CARD INFO

Please update your emergency contact information, including an active e-mail account. You can find this in your Home Access Center (HAC) by clicking on registration. Please have this done by September 30th.

ATTENDANCE

Daily attendance counts!  When students are late or are signed out early the time is recorded.  Absent minutes add up quickly and can result in referrals to court for truancy just as full and half day absences add up.   Please be sure your child is here by 8:15 and can get to his/her room on time.  Avoid signing him/her out early.

Please be ready with a photo ID to sign your child out of school. If you are not the listed guardian, the guardian will be contacted before your child is allowed to leave.

UNIFORMS

All APS has waived school uniforms for SY 2022-23. We ask that you are mindful of the following; no open toed shoes (slippers, flip flops, etc.), no spaghetti strapped tops, no bicycle/yoga style shorts or pants, and shorts at the length of the fingertips. I am hoping to offer spirit-wear for our students again this year. More information to follow!

KINDERGARTEN SCREENING

Please call the office at 330-761-1633 to sign up for a time slot on August 29th August 30th, or August 31st.  The teachers will be checking on some basic skills during that time so they are able to plan lessons that meet the needs of each child.  Our health aide will also do vision and hearing screening during that time.

Parents or adults must remain in the building during the screening.

COMMUNICATION

All Calls  Please listen to ALL Calls for updates.  These will be sent by both e-mail and phone messages. Thank you for listening to the entire message for details of school events and messages.  There is no need to return a call to the school. If you haven’t updated your phone and e-mail, please call the school so we can do that for you. This is the primary source of communication for your family.

ClassDojo is a free digital sharing platform that allows teachers to document the day in class and share that with families via a web browser so that nearly any device can access the content – from a simple smartphone to a laptop computer. As long as it has a browser, photos and videos can be viewed. ClassDojo brings school communities together, with one place for teachers and families to connect, communicate, and share learning experiences. Your classroom teacher will invite you to join. They will use this for communication, PBIS engagement and other features. I will use it in addition to all calls for building wide information.
